Bear this in Mind "Read the following openly and draw your own conclusions" What follows is what I and a number of other microlighters have experienced and I am sure there are many others that feel the same regarding what I believe is a grave incompetence in this form of aviation in South Africa. Certain ideas and personal thoughts may be offensive to certain people. Since the aeroclub controversy in South Africa, microlighting for the most part still seems to be in a quandry From the outside everything seems above board, however is it really? Is a monopoly in existence that regulates prices, creates rules and regulations, which has a direct positive gain for certain institutions and is there a reluctance to investigate certain members alleged misconduct. Are certain members beyond reproach because of authoritative positions which they hold??? These are some of the questions that are being posed at present and as with most allegations, where there is smoke, there is fire.
I am aware of requests to the microlight association, Aeroclub and CAA of South Africa for inquiries into the alleged misconduct and questionable training standards of some senior officials in this form of light flight, with absolutely no response. |
